Day 2: Waltham

As far as fun goes, on a scale of 1-10, I'd have to rate this as a solid 13. Actually, I can't really remember what we did... but based on pictures, I think we went to downtown Waltham. Hmm, yes, we did. We took some hamburger buns down to the ducks, only to find MEAN geese. I hate those things... I've had plenty of bad experiences with geese but one in particular comes to mind-- being attacked by about 15 hissing, piggish beastly birds. Meh, next topic.

After seeing the Charles, we walked up and down the main strip. I would say our highlight here was this very well-stocked costume shop. We were impressed with the selection and the ease at which complete transformations were achieved. Do you even see a white girl? Because I see Bob Marley. Is that the monkey from Aladdin? Anyways, it was a good day... I hope fun was had by all... and not just me.

Pigan's Visit, Whoops, I mean... MEGan.

Day 1
Started out with LOTS of waiting at the airport....

After a red-eye flight and many airplane mishaps... Meg arrives in good spirits. Make that grumpy spirits. But enough of that, Claire and Meg's first meeting was like the Cheney/Edwards debate: one looked grumpy and mean, and the other one cried like a baby. Meg was suffering from a bad hair day, lack of showering, intense hunger, and finally...chronic peeling of her entire back (gross). We rushed her home to shower, but not without first stopping at Cheesecake factory. Come to think of it, I don't think she did shower that first day. Uh, Megan... you sure don't act like you just took microbiology. The day was this and this only: naps. 'Nuff said.

Margot and the Nuclear So and So's

So... Monday night Tom took me out on a date to a concert down at Great Scott. The band was Film School with Margot and Nuclear So and So's (the band we went to see) opening for them. Actually, some DJ was the open open, and he was really lame. So about an hour and half after the "show" started, Margot came on. They're a brand new band... I think I heard one of them mention that this was only their second city on their first tour. They produced their own album... but man, they're good. This band is going to make it. PLEASE don't sell out and let some lame show like the OC play your songs. There were 8 band members, two of which were pretty whacky. One of the guitar players was really tall and weird... and then that drummer, what was he doing anyways?

We really had a good time just being goofy together, enjoying good music, walking around... and mostly eating some frozen yogurt. Thanks Honey, for the awesome date, and for introducing me to good music, always.

How do I look???

Okay, you got me. I didn't grow a foot taller, dye my hair and lose 50lbs. But I did get this dress and pair of shoes for a friend's wedding. On the way to a lunch with the AF crew, me and Tom had a few minutes to kill. Soo... I looked down the ave and what did I see-- Ann Taylor, my fave! We were in there about 10 minutes, grabbed some dresses off the "$39.99 and up" rack, picked up some heels and went to the fitting room. I told Tom we were doing a "blind shop" (aka... I am NOT buying an ugly dress just because it's the cheapest!). Anyways, at the end of the pile this was the one we liked the best and guess what... $39.99. Things were working in Tom's favor that day. My second choice was $90. The shoes I tried stuff on with were $108 (so not going to happen). But online these were a great deal, and I can thank my dear mom for those. I LOVE YOU MOM (and yes, I still enjoy being spoiled)! So, do you likey?

Claire-bear and Daddy Time!

This happened last Sunday, but I'm just getting around to posting about it. SORRY-- I'm really busy. Ok that was a bold-faced lie. I'm not busy, just lazy at times. So, after the church service Sunday the ladies held a baby shower for precious little Laurita, 5 weeks old. While I attended the shower Tom and Claire spent some time together. After hitting a drive thru (Tom!), they took a drive up Wachusset Mountain to enjoy MA's greenery. I told him to come back in an hour-- it took two, who knew?-- but when I came out, make that RAN out of the church, this was the view I was greeted with! Claire and Tom, just playing happily on a blanket in the middle of BBC's lawn. I couldn't help but snap some pics. You know me... camera attached to my hand at all times!

20-Buck Tummy Tuck

Who am I talking to when I post on this blog? Myself? A mirror image, I don't know. You, I guess. Whatev.

Ok, so these pants. Sorry for the pic of my thighs, it was necessary, but seriously, YOU have to get some.. whoever you are, GO NOW! I got these at Target a couple nights ago. C9 by Champion, dry fit running capri, polyester spandex (88/12) blend. The thing is, I went for my cardio this morning wearing these and had the best workout of my life, ok, not life, but of this BFL challenge for sure. Why, you ask? Well, whenever I wear workout pants, I get too hot... when I wear shorts, I'm constantly worrying about "ride-age". And with both, I'm always worrying about.. well, bouncing around too much. These just hold everything tightly into place, and allow you to focus completely on breathing and form. I finished my intervals, and just thought "hmm, I still have something left" so I went ahead and ran another mile. Hello, get the pants. I know I'm going to be getting another pair soon.

Also, good music helps. I had burned a mix of Rooney, Ben Folds, Death Cab, Phish, Belle and Sebastion, and Grandaddy for this workout... that could be part of it, but I'm giving most of the credit to the pants. :)

We got some bikes.

Friday afternoon Tom decided to do some bike shopping over in Belmont. If you know Tom, that means we would probably be purchasing some bikes... and we did. We had already gone one spring in Boston without them, and we weren't about to let that happen again. We headed down to Wheel Works and got a couple Trek hybrids (frame and handlebars like a mountain bike, wheels like a street bike). It was fun, but I know nothing about bikes. It's been a while since I even rode a bike and the last one I owned was fluorescent pink, if you get my drift. My observation on our new bikes is this, and this only: they match and they're really cute. We also picked up a Topeak baby seat for on the back of Tom's bike. .... Saturday morning, had to try 'em out. We took a ride on a nearby bike trail, GORGEOUS. We made our way to the next town, in order to visit a favorite ice cream stand of ours (unfortunately, I wasn't feeling my flavor, oh well). Claire took a nap in her seat for the first half hour-- guess we don't need to worry about her being a light sleeper. Anyway, everything was loads of fun, until the next morning, when I tried to walk... Sorry the pics don't have better views of the bikes themselves. I guess the photographer was distracted... by people. (That's ok Katrina, I usually am too!) I also just realized in every single pic on the blog I'm wearing my Kelso jacket. I swear I own more clothes...

Face the Facts :)

Ok, that's not even witty, really. But in response to Greta's comment from the Downtown post, I guess I'll put a couple "face" pictures on here. SO THERE YA GO! Love, Fle
